Application Guidelines
Surface Preparation
- New Steel: Blast to Sa2.5 standard. If necessary, apply a suitable shop primer to protect the blasted surface. Before final application, thoroughly clean damaged shop primer and contaminated areas during storage and processing. Repair damaged parts with this product or other specified epoxy paints.
- Maintenance: Remove grease with appropriate cleaners. Eliminate salts and other contaminants with high-pressure fresh water. Remove loose rust and other loose materials by blasting or power tools. Grind sharp edges, sweep away debris, and apply a complete paint film to achieve the original film thickness.
Mixing and Dilution
WH-EP153 is a two-component product requiring correct component ratio. Use the entire contents of each drum after thorough mixing. First, stir the base material until uniform and smooth (no more than 2 minutes), then slowly add the curing agent and stir for 3 minutes. A variable-speed power stirrer is recommended. Avoid over-stirring to prevent accelerated curing and shortened pot life. High temperatures shorten the mixture’s pot life, while low temperatures extend it. Dilution is generally not required; if necessary, add a small amount of thinner (5% or less) in compliance with local VOC and air quality regulations.
Application
WH-EP153 can be applied by airless spraying, brush, or roller. Ensure good ventilation in confined spaces. Avoid application in the presence of standing water or rain. For airless spraying, a pump with a 60:1 (or higher) ratio is recommended. Use a 0.48-0.53mm nozzle with an output pressure of 175 bar for optimal spraying results.
