Application Guidelines
Surface Preparation
- New Steel: Blast-clean to Sa2.5 standard. When necessary, apply a suitable shop primer to protect the blasted surface. Before final application, thoroughly clean damaged shop primer and contaminated areas from storage and processing. Repair damaged areas with this product or other specified epoxy paints.
- Maintenance: Remove grease with a suitable cleaner. Eliminate salts and other contaminants with high-pressure fresh water. Remove loose rust and other loose materials by blasting or power tools. Smooth sharp edges, sweep away debris, and repair the coating to achieve the original film thickness.
Mixing and Thinning
WH-EP155 is a two-component product requiring correct component ratio. Mix the entire contents of each paint pail before use. First, stir the base material until uniform and smooth (no more than 2 minutes), then slowly add the curing agent and stir for 3 minutes. A variable-speed power stirrer is recommended. Avoid over-stirring, as this will accelerate curing and shorten the product’s pot life. High temperatures shorten the mixture’s pot life, while low temperatures extend it. Thinning is generally not required; if necessary, add a small amount of thinner (5% or less) in compliance with local VOC and air quality regulations.
WH-EP155 can be applied by airless spraying, brush coating, or roller coating. Ensure good ventilation during construction in confined spaces. Avoid applying in the presence of standing water or rain. For airless spraying, a pump with a ratio of 60:1 or higher is recommended. Use a 0.48–0.53 mm nozzle and an output pressure of 175 bar for optimal spraying results.
