Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. Keep away from incompatible materials and food containers. Store in the original container and keep the container tightly sealed. No smoking, open flames or ignition sources. Protect containers from physical damage.

 

Avoid contact with water, alcohols, strong bases, metal compounds or detergent solutions. This material reacts with water to generate intensive foaming, carbon dioxide and heat. Foaming in confined spaces may cause pressure build-up. Isocyanates may corrode and embrittle certain plastics and rubbers.

 

WANNATE® IT-170B can be diluted with polar solvents such as esters, ketones and ether esters, including butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA), and aromatic hydrocarbons. In general, it shows good compatibility with the solvents listed above; however, the storage stability of the prepared solution should be verified. Only urethane-grade solvents (water content < 0.05%, free of reactive groups such as hydroxyl and amino groups) shall be used.

 

Stable solutions with a minimum solid content of 20% can be prepared by diluting WANNATE® IT-170B with xylene, toluene or high-boiling aromatic hydrocarbons such as naphtha 100 or aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures. To extend the storage stability of diluted solutions, aliphatic solvents should not be added. Nevertheless, WANNATE® IT-170B has certain compatibility with aliphatic solvents and can therefore be incorporated into coating systems containing aliphatic solvents.

 

In general, WANNATE® IT-170B is compatible with the following products: aliphatic polyisocyanates (e.g., WANNATE® HT-100, HB-100), aromatic polyisocyanates, polyester polyols, polyacrylates, and alkyd resins. Compatibility testing must be performed prior to blending.

 

This product is sensitive to moisture. Under cool and dry conditions at 0–30 °C, the shelf life is 6 months when stored in the original sealed container.

 

General information: Storage at temperatures above 30 °C may lead to increased viscosity and color number. Storage at temperatures below 0 °C may cause crystallization. Such solidification is reversible upon gentle heating and does not affect product quality.
