1. Product Application
WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus is used as the curing component for non‑yellowing polyurethane coatings and as an additive resin for alkyd spray paints.
As a curing agent in non‑yellowing two‑component polyurethane coatings, WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus offers excellent chemical resistance, weatherability, outstanding gloss retention, and superior mechanical properties. Due to its high hardness, it is often blended with WANNATE® HT‑series products. Its coreactants are flexible polyacrylate polyols and polyester polyols.
Two‑component coatings based on WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus are mainly used in OEM automotive coatings and automotive refinish coatings. Thanks to its excellent physical drying performance, it is also used as an auxiliary resin in alkyd spray coatings to accelerate drying. Such coatings are mainly applied in automotive refinish and industrial coatings.

4. Storage and Handling Precautions
Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area. Keep away from incompatible materials and food containers. Store in the original container. Keep containers securely closed. No smoking, open flames, or ignition sources. Protect containers from physical damage.
Avoid contact with water, alcohols, strong bases, metal compounds, or detergent solutions. This material reacts with water to generate significant foam, carbon dioxide, and heat; foaming in confined spaces may cause pressure buildup. Isocyanates can corrode and embrittle certain plastics and rubbers.
WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus can be diluted with polar solvents such as esters, ketones, and ether esters (e.g., butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate) and aromatic hydrocarbons. It generally shows good compatibility with the above solvents, but storage stability of the prepared solution must be tested. Use only urethane‑grade solvents (water content < 0.05%, no reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amino).
Dilution with xylene, toluene, or high‑boiling aromatic compounds (e.g., naphtha 100 or aromatic hydrocarbon blends) yields stable solutions with a minimum solids content of 20%. Aliphatic solvents should not be added if extended storage stability of the diluted solution is required. However, WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus has partial compatibility with aliphatic solvents and can be incorporated into coating systems containing aliphatic solvents.
5. Compatibility
Generally, WANNATE® IT‑170Bplus is compatible with:
- Aliphatic polyisocyanates (e.g., WANNATE® HT‑100, HB‑100)
- Aromatic polyisocyanates
- Polyester polyols
- Polyacrylates
- Alkyd resins
Compatibility testing is mandatory before blending.
6. Shelf Life
The product is moisture‑sensitive. When stored in the original unopened container under cool and dry conditions at 0–30 °C, the shelf life is 6 months.
General notes:
- Storage above 30 °C may increase viscosity and color number.
- Storage below 0 °C may cause crystallization. Such solidification is reversible by brief heating and does not affect product quality.
