Aquolin 161

Product Description

Aquolin® 161 is a water‑dispersible isocyanate curing agent based on hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). When combined with water‑borne polyurethane, polyacrylate and other polymers, it is applied in the adhesive field to improve hydrolysis resistance, heat resistance and other properties. It can also be used in water‑borne coatings. Mixtures incorporated with Aquolin® 161 must be used within the pot‑life.

Aquolin® 161 may be diluted with solvents such as propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA), propylene glycol diacetate (PGDA), butyl acetate, etc. Urethane‑grade solvents (water content < 0.05 %) are recommended for dilution, and practical tests shall be performed prior to use.

Storage

Store in a dark, cool and dry location at 5‑35 °C with hermetically intact packaging. The shelf‑life is twelve months from the date of production. Performance evaluation is recommended before use if shelf‑life has expired. Protect the product strictly against frost.

Water‑dispersible isocyanate curing agents are highly moisture‑sensitive. They react with water to generate carbon dioxide gas and urea. Carbon dioxide build‑up may raise container pressure and create hazards. Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent ingress of moisture in any form. Use up promptly once packaging is opened.
