WANNATE IT-170Bplus

WANNATE® IT-170Bplus is used as a curing component for non-yellowing polyurethane coatings and as an additive resin for alkyd spray paints.

 

As a curing agent for two-component non-yellowing polyurethane coatings, WANNATE® IT-170Bplus exhibits excellent chemical resistance, weatherability, outstanding gloss retention and superior mechanical properties. Owing to its high hardness, it is usually blended with WANNATE® HT series products. Its coreactants are flexible polyacrylate polyols and polyester polyols.

 

Two-component coatings based on WANNATE® IT-170Bplus are mainly used in automotive OEM coatings and automotive refinish coatings. Thanks to its excellent physical drying performance, it is also used as an auxiliary resin in alkyd spray coatings to accelerate drying. Such coatings are mainly applied in automotive refinish and industrial coatings.

Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. Keep away from incompatible materials and food containers. Store in the original container. Keep the container tightly sealed. No smoking, open flames or ignition sources. Protect containers from physical damage. Avoid contact with water, alcohols, strong bases, metal compounds or detergent solutions.

 

This material reacts with water, generating copious foam, carbon dioxide and releasing heat. Foaming in a confined space may cause pressure build-up. Isocyanates may corrode and embrittle certain plastics and rubbers.

 

WANNATE® IT-170Bplus can be diluted with polar solvents such as esters, ketones and ether esters, e.g. butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate, and aromatic hydrocarbons. It is generally well compatible with the solvents listed above, but the storage stability of the prepared solution should be verified. Only urethane-grade solvents (water content < 0.05%, free of reactive groups such as hydroxyl and amino groups) shall be used.

 

Stable solutions with a minimum solid content of 20% can be prepared by diluting WANNATE® IT-170Bplus with xylene, toluene or high-boiling aromatic hydrocarbons such as naphtha 100 or aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures. Aliphatic solvents should be avoided if extended storage stability of the diluted solution is required. However, WANNATE® IT-170Bplus has certain compatibility with aliphatic solvents and can therefore be incorporated into coating systems containing aliphatic solvents.

 

In general, WANNATE® IT-170Bplus is compatible with the following products: aliphatic polyisocyanates (e.g. WANNATE® HT-100, HB-100), aromatic polyisocyanates, polyester polyols, polyacrylates and alkyd resins. Compatibility testing must be performed before blending.

 

This product is sensitive to moisture. The shelf life is 6 months when stored in the original unopened container under cool and dry conditions at 0~30 °C.

 

General Information: Storage at temperatures above 30 °C will cause an increase in viscosity and color. Storage at temperatures below 0 °C may result in crystal precipitation. Such solidification is reversible upon gentle heating and does not affect product quality.
