Wanhua Energy Saving Shortlisted for “Shandong Provincial Academician Workstation”

Recently, Wanhua Energy Saving Technology Group has been officially approved to establish a “Shandong Provincial Academician Workstation” and listed in the recordation list. The cooperating academician is Wang Fuming, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In this batch, only 20 enterprises were selected across the province, including 3 in Yantai City. This marks the first provincial academician workstation approved in Yantai Development Zone since the implementation of the recordation system for provincial academician workstations. So far, the number of provincial academician workstations owned by enterprises in Yantai Development Zone has reached 5.
Project In-depth Analysis
The project “Development and Improvement of Non-aqueous Reactive Polyurethane Polymer Grouting Materials for Infrastructure Repair in Different Working Conditions” jointly carried out by Wanhua Energy Saving and Academician Wang Fuming’s team will focus on solving a number of engineering and technical problems in the safety maintenance of infrastructure such as high-speed railways, underground pipe networks, water conservancy projects, and metro tunnels through technological research. After the project is implemented, it is expected to apply for more than 5 invention patents, create more than 100 new jobs, and achieve an annual sales revenue of over 160 million yuan.
At present, China’s infrastructure construction is of huge scale: the mileage of expressways has exceeded 120,000 kilometers; the number of built reservoirs of various types reaches 86,353; the number of underground pipelines is enormous, and due to long-term disrepair, leakage problems are prominent; by the end of 2015, the operating mileage of high-speed railways reached 19,000 kilometers, accounting for more than 60% of the world’s total high-speed railway mileage, ranking first in the world. These infrastructures inevitably face problems such as leakage, collapse, and settlement during long-term operation. From expressways to embankment dams, and from tunnels to underground pipelines, the research and development of this project not only (creates) a new academic direction for the interdisciplinary integration of transportation, water conservancy, civil engineering with new materials and technologies, but also effectively solves a number of key engineering and technical problems in the field of infrastructure safety maintenance in China.
The establishment of provincial academician workstations aims to guide enterprises to strengthen industry-university-research cooperation with academicians from the two academies (Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering) and their research teams. Through introducing high-end talent teams and jointly carrying out technological research and achievement transformation, it aims to enhance enterprises’ technological innovation capabilities and cultivate new economic growth points for industries.
